The first part of the workshop with Peter Bauhuis is finished. We organized a little exhibition in the school to show other students how we worked around the 'line'. Lines are still the mean point of our studio; littel lines, lines in jewels (made in just 1hour!), lines around us, lines developed in the space, under the light. How it changes in the space, lines as signs... But what is the line? What's the meaning of lines in our brain? How much deeper we can go on it? On these questions I tried to find my own one: can be the line the most sensitive gesture to develop any reasoning in our daily life? Personally, I think this workshop arouses me lot of questions not just about jewellery but more about points of view! And I think we will find a solution just at the end of our 'journey'...

During the presentation by Mari Ishika, I was intrigued by the beautiful black and white photos she took of nature. In conjunction to what Doris said,by stripping an object of its colors, we neutralize and view it as a different thing, with its shades of grays.

"Where does a "Parallel World“ exist? In a different universe? Can one discover this world through time travel? Is it perhaps possible to see this world in a dream? Or does it only exist in one’s heart? The world we see is only a part of the entire reality which is composed of many worlds existing simultaneously, side by side. We can find “Parallel Worlds” whenever we open our eyes and hearts. They are always with us."

With our found lines, we were to use wires to create its shadow. For me, limiting to wires helped to focus on the shadow than the final physical object. My first few trials were constructed with direct point of views, bending them to fulfill the form. Then I twisted the pieces to stand upright, assuming I was entering 3D. I was tempted to ditch the wires. Yet, having seen Bettina Dittlmann’s beautiful works, I believed in the immense possibilities wires possess. In the end, it paid off sticking to one thing, it allowed thinking out of the box. Peter asked to summarize what we’ve learned into a sentence. Finding the words to interpret what we think and feel is imperative in making valuable criticism, which 2nd year is about.
